The Feasting Continues In November

The Feasting Continues In November

As the gastronomy curtain lowers on the CCB (Asia) Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival, it will rise again three days later for the Hong Kong Great November Feast, another accredited event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. Pace yourself throughout the month for a series of culinary events taking place around town. Indulge your palate with flavours from all corners of the world at numerous festivals and markets.
With the crab season upon us, savour the delicious crustacean at 63 restaurants, including some of the trendiest dining spots and critically acclaimed Michelin-starred institutions. Restaurant booking platform FeedMe Guru has lined up more than 60 top restaurants to offer themed tasting menus throughout November featuring succulent crab in at least half of the courses. “We typically think of Shanghainese hairy crab at this time of the year, but the reality is that Hong Kong offers a rich diversity of crab cuisines from around the world.   As a food capital, we can feast on all types of crabs on any given day.  During November, enjoy a unique dining experience with grilled Japanese Taraba crab at Umai, chilli crab from Sri Lanka at Café Malacca, Alaskan king crab at Petrus, braised bird’s  nest with fresh water crab at Ye Shanghai or British brown crab at Namo Avant Thai. These are just some of the signature dishes to relish,” recommends Dominic Law, co-founder of FeedMe Guru.

A one-stop destination to enjoy crabalicious dinners is the Harbour City. 16 restaurants in the complex will present a series of Sparkling Wine & Crab Pairing Menus from now until the end of November. Be the first to try out the gourmet crustacean delights at the sea-view restaurants of ANA TEN and Paper Moon located at the new Ocean Terminal  Deck in the extension building of the Ocean Terminal. A perfect spot to unwind and enjoy golden sunsets and panoramic harbour views, the Ocean Terminal Deck also plays host to Sparkling  Sunset@Harbour City with wine tasting parties. Sample sparkling wines and canapes at the pop-up booths of Harbour City restaurants at the rooftop observatory deck Thursdays through Sundays from now until November 12. Enjoy personalised beauty services at the pop-up beauty counter and capture the glorious sunset with a Polaroid photo.

For something with a charming new-meets-old neighbourhood vibe, make time for the FUNtastic QRE Festival to be held in Wanchai over two weekends in November. Experience exciting carnivals, community street arts, tasty food, international wines and live music or get set for the QRE wine and whisky walk through shop- lined Queen’s Road East and Lee Tung Avenue.

Other events not to be missed are the Lan Kwai Fong Carnival, Marco Polo German Bierfest and the Tong Chong Street Market.

Gourmands on the lookout for a sublime dining experience should reserve your table at the eateries which won the Hong Kong Top 10 Wine Pairing Restaurants Awards presented by Wine Luxe magazine. These winners have created special wine-pairing menus to tantalise your senses.
